HTC – High Tech Computer corp., established in 1997, manufactures and markets innovative, feature rich Smart phone and PDA Phone devices. Lately here at Bimos.be we have tested many high tech devices, one of them is the new HTC P3300 so we decided to put it to the test to see what’s it made of. First let me tell you that this smart phone is phenomenal, it does everything you expect it to do and more. Don’t get me wrong, there are some downsides as well, but the overall impression is quite positive. HTC P3300 It is a Pocket PC… a bit slow sometimes as its processor is not so powerful (201 MHz) but considering the device’s size we’ll forgive that for now. It has a 2 mega pixel camera that does very good pictures, videos, it can broadcast and it has some photo-effects that you can apply to your pictures before taking them. It has a GPS (Global Positioning System) that you can use in the car or while walking on the street. The actual phone is of very good quality one, all the features are more than decent! The Pocket PC: You can install additional software though the default ones are pretty helpful: If you want to install additional software we strongly recommend buying a 2 GB Micro SD card in order to have enough space for all your Tom Tom maps, pictures as well as files you might want to save (mp3, movies, word documents, etc.)
The GPS (Global Positioning System): For the GPS you need to download and install maps – a map is provided free of charge (a city of your choice) the rest you can buy online from the Tom Tom official web site. The entire Europe will fit within 1 Giga Bite and the HTC handles itself very well in a car. Walking is a bit confusing and you might find yourself walking in circles. If you don’t find your way you can always call a friend! The only problem with the navigation while walking is battery life (2 hours max) so be careful as if you run out of battery you won’t even be able to call a friend !!! The HTC phone (phone): The phone is of good quality, no reception problem, talk time is between 3,5 and 5 hours and stand-by time is between 150 to 200 h (we’d say 5 days of holiday or 2 working days). This phone will charge once you plug it to one of your computer’s USB ports (as I already told you; it’s a high-tech people’s phone) The phone works very well but when you have to make phone calls it gets a little bit painful (by the way if you SMS a lot DON’T BUY THIS PHONE). We have two options for calling: That might sound easy enough but how would you say “Alex” out loud in the middle of the road??? What if a similar named person walks by – hmmm…Also let’s not even think of the really embarrassing situation when you have a wife that wants you to call her “hunny bun” – imagine the metro situation) Another down side is that our friend HTC starts failing to identify voice tags …here at bimos.be we have added about 30 voice tags and sometimes depending on the environment noise it fails to dial the desired number!!! The Phone plus the Micro SD card is quite expensive and if you need the car support (not provided in the pack) you’ll find yourself spending around 600 euros. Although that might sound a bit expensive try to think how much you would spend on a GOOD GSM + GOOD GPS + POCKET PC + MP3/Video PLAYER. It would cost you more I’m sure! The big plus is that you can have all of them in your pocket in one device protected by the leather case provided in the pack!!! If you have any questions about this phone please ask through the contact page. – We’d be happy to provide you with all the answers!!!
