This past weekend's main attraction in Brussels was without a doubt the Next 2008 Expo Show – in the exhibition arena close to the Atomium.
Bimos.be took this opportunity to get an overview of the latest additions to computing, gaming as well as consumer electronics and cool gadgets. As expected most of the exhibition participants were gaming consoles giants such as Microsoft (with Xbox and PC games), Nintendo (the Wii and DS creators), Sony (with their PS3), gaming software makers, such as EA Games, consumer electronics big players like Samsung and electronics retailers such as Media Markt. The young generation had a blast, as in the four coners of the expo area gaming contests were really on, from small laptop screens to a huge cinema screen. The not-so-new Blue-Ray technology was present everywhere as it seems to have won the battle against HD-DVD and is taking over consumer electronics as the new media. The future of high definition has found its new best friend. We cannot say that we were impressed by this technology running on some systems though, since it looks like it still needs more work. But I guess that is a common sin of the manufacturers “rushing" new products to the market.
Robots and robotics engineering were present at the expo. The stand that caught our attention was that of Gigapan, a very interesting robot that can make high definition panoramic pictures by taking a series of photos with your normal digital camera stiching them together perfectly ... and for an interesting price too. The hobbyist robot makers were not forgotten either with a stand just for them, all filled with goodies, from affordable beginner build-your-own-bot kits to the fully featured kit for the "I, Robot" kind of guy. We have also met the Eyebcom team who made a 3d model of our heads, by photographing it from a lot of different angles, and no, we will NOT post it. But we do want to say "Thanks" to the guys that did it .
While mingling with the crowd we spotted our old friends – The Kaspersky Stand – no games here. When we talk about security we can never be too careful. The language barrier, a common thing in Brussels, was not met with these guys. Everything went smooth and we are hoping to bring you here at Bimos.be a more Secure Internet with Kaspersky 2009. And for a very friendly price too – we'll let our customers know in good time. For a more comprehensive image gallery from the event click here. That's all for this year, hope to see even more innovations in 2009. And maybe you'll get to visit the Bimos.be stand there as well. |
